The prehistoric shelters of Laugerie Basse

Les Eyzies-de-Tayac

Open from 08 April to 31 December

This site has served as a reference for prehistorians around the world. The numerous archaeological remains discovered there bear witness to a cultural and aesthetic activity unparalleled in the region or even in Europe. Two shelters are open to visitors: the so-called classic shelter and the Marseilles shelter.

Built between the latter and the cave of the Grand Roc, a museum aims to introduce the visitor to movable art in a didactic way.

A series of casts and photos copiously illustrates the variety and richness of the objects that the shelters have delivered.

Night visit of the cave and the prehistoric shelter in conditions close to discovery Monday at 8:30 p.m. from July 20 to August 17 (€ 15 for over 12s and € 9 for 5/12 years old)

School workshops and family activities by reservation: Cro-Magnon architect and Sur les traces des Animaux
